KADIWA NG PANGULO
The multi-pronged event started at 8:30am with the opening ceremonies for Kadiwa ng Pangulo Para sa Manggagawa in the areas outside Robinsons Galleria premises. The regional officials who led in the ribbon cutting ceremony were Assistant Regional Director Emmanuel Y. Ferrer of DOLE VII, Director Angel Enriquez from the Department of Agriculture and Atty. Richard F. Aban from the Department of Trade and Industry.
JOBS FAIR
After the quick walk through the participating sellers and exhibitors of the KNP para sa Manggagawa program, some of the guests and the participating employers and job applicants convereged at the Atrium of Robinsons Galleria for the Job Fair.
In his speech, DOLE VII Director Atty Roy L Buenafe said that the activity was in line with the request of President Ferdinand “Bong-Bong” Marcos, Jr. together with DOLE Sec. Bienvenido Laguesma to provide job opportunities for the jobless in the country. Buenafe also said the department might push for a monthly or quarterly job fair. Declaring the Jobs Fair open was DOLE VII Assistant Regional Director Emmanuel “Manny” Ferrer.
As the Jobs Fair closed at 5pm – the total recorded applicants Hired on the Spot (HOTS) were 41 (33.88 percent of 121 total applicants ) for jobs that range from ESL teachers, sewers to various mall workers [cashier, sales clerks].
GRANTS
Aside from the job fair and Kadiwa stalls, one major highlight of the event was the release of the multimillion DILP grants with aggregate amount of P3,253, 414 covering 204 beneficiaries. The amount was released to two major accredited co-partners (ACP), namely, Cebu City United Vendors Association (CCUVA) that received P995,184 with 86 beneficiaries and Gothong Memorial National High School Multi- Purpose Cooperative that received P2,258, 230 with 118 beneficiaries.
